Doctor Who is a significant part of British Culture and has gained a cult following with fans being known as Whovians.

The Series is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running science-fiction television series in the world as well as the "most successful" science-fiction series of all time.

The Series originally ran from 1963 till its cancellation in 1986 due to poor ratings and a general decline in interest in the show.

An attempt to revive regular production was launched in 1996 with a backdoor television movie titled Doctor Who but it took in till 2005 before regular production was achieved with the series being produced in house by BBC Wales in Cardiff. Since 2023, the show is co-produced by BBC Studios and Bad Wolf, also in Cardiff.

The TARDIS

Paradoxically, its interior is shown as being much larger than its exterior, commonly described as being "bigger on the inside".
